Access to Clean Water

The Kidera Primary School and the immediate neighbouring households rely on one borehole in the school compound to get clean and safe drinking water. The borehole oftentimes breaks down due to the large population that uses it. In the Global Grant project rain water harvest tanks to serve the over 1,300 student were provided. 18 water tanks with a volume of 10,000 or 5,000 litres, were constructed at the school. Rainwater collection pipes were also set up.

Awareness of water management is created through training. Regular checks of the water tanks have to be carried out. Training for repair and maintenance is planned for 2024. Teachers and students should also be shown how to properly clean the water tanks during the dry season.
