Health Days & Dental Camp

As part of the Global Grant project ‘Kidera - Adopt a Village’, RC Gaba organised a Family Health Day in December 2022 with the help of the Austrian partners, who took over the purchase of medicines.
In the meantime, two further Health Days (two days each) have been organised together with RC Tororo - Sam Owori and with financial support from RC Innsbruck Apin, RC Kitzbühel and RC Bonn-Rheinbogen. Medicines were purchased from many private donors.
An additional Health Camp was carried out in December 2024 in cooperation with the former Medical Officer Remigio Epuwat, financed by the Rotary Clubs Innsbruck Alpin, RC Kitzbühel, RC Bonn-Rheinbogen and in particular by Rtn. Volker Dreike in loving memory of his wife Angela.

Rtn. Volker Dreike in cooperation with the mentioned Rotary Clubs organised a Dental Camp in July 2024, where the team led by Dr Mitesh Badiani (SmileStar from London) spent a week providing dental treatment for people in this region who otherwise have no access or money for dental services.

The SmileStar team worked on a voluntary basis and brought their own equipment from London. The costs for the camp, accommodation and catering were covered by RC Bonn-Rheinbogen, RC Innsbruck Alpin, RC Kitzbühel and private donors. The organisation was handled by RC Tororo - Sam Owori (Rtn. Stephen Owori and Rtn. Dr Jagire Onyango).

Rtn. Agnes Kazibwe Agnes Mukasa has always accompanied the team. She and the former Medical Officer Remigio Epuwat of Panyangasi HCIII actively helped - and learnt a lot.
It is planned to repeat the Dental Camp in July 2026.

In addition, the next Health Days are planned by Doris and Judith with support of their Clubs (RC Innsbruck Alpin and RC Kitzbühel) as well as RC Bonn-Rheinbogen and The Dreike Scholarship Fund in December 2025 - this time Medical Officer Remigio Epuwat will coordinate in cooperation with the Jungle Medical Missionary Hospital in Panyangasi (JMMU). It is planned to start a project to improve medical treatment for needy people by combining the offers of the governmental Health Center (Panyangasi HCIII) with private hospital (JMMU).
